EA Mobile launches multiple Blackberry titles

EA Mobile has launched a handful of its popular mobile title on the Blackberry App World for Blackberry enabled devices. It’s good to see EA bringing its games to mobile platforms besides iPhone – not everyone uses the iPhone, after all.

The first games to land on Blackberry include Bejeweled, Need for Speed Undercover, RISK, SCRABBLE (in the US and Canada only), Tetris, Tetris Mania, The Sims 3, and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR. Hopefully they’ll bring DOOM RPG and other original titles to the platform as well.

PopCap Donates Bejeweled Twist to Overseas Military

PopCap Games announced today that it will ship the first 500 boxed, retail copies of its new release, Bejeweled Twist to the non-profit Games For Soldiers organization tomorrow. GFS will deliver the boxed copies of the game to armed services personnel stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan in time for soldiers in the field to enjoy it during the holiday season. Meanwhile, for the rest of us, Bejeweled Twist will hit retail shelves next Tuesday.

“We really appreciate PopCap’s generous contribution – one of several the company has made to our organization – and are ramping up to distribute copies of Bejeweled Twist to soldiers in the field by mid-December, just in time for the holidays,” said Jesse Williams, founder of Games For Soldiers and Army National Guard soldier who returned home from a deployment to Afghanistan earlier this year. “So-called ‘casual’ games like Bejeweled, Peggle and Zuma are hugely popular with military personnel of all ages, ranks and backgrounds. These games lend themselves to the occasional and haphazard ‘down time’ common to military life in combat areas, and provide some distraction and even stress relief in what are often high-adrenaline and/or high anxiety environments.”

EA Mobile Locks Down Bejeweled

Electronic Arts and PopCap Games today announced that they have extended the licensing agreement for the popular casual game Bejeweled. I’ll try to contain my excitement on this one. The extended deal gives EA Mobile the exclusive worldwide mobile publishing rights to Bejeweled and Bejeweled 2 through 2010.

So if it is mobile Bejweled action you crave, all you need to do is look to EA Mobile. Bejeweled is currently available on wireless carriers in North America, Europe and Asia.

When Bejeweled Ruled The World

Casual game publisher PopCap Games announced that its ridiculously popular casual game, Bejeweled (and Bejeweled 2), has sold over 25 million units across all platforms since the game’s launch in late 2000. Love it or hate it, the puzzle game series has proven to be unstoppable on all platforms including Web, mobile, retail, in-flight and other retail and entertainment channels. Pretty impressive for such a simple game concept.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
