Remedy’s Matias Myllyrinne to keynote GDC Europe
Matias Myllyrinne, Managing Director of Finnish-based Remedy Entertainment, the development studio behind the Max Payne series and the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake, will deliver a keynote at this year’s Game Developers Conference Europe (GDC Europe). In his keynote address entitled, “From Max Payne to Alan Wake: Creating Intellectual Properties the Remedy Way,” Myllyrinne will share the key principles that have guided the company over the years in developing its games. He will touch on the company’s goal to remain small, independent, and passionate about creating new IP, and will try to answer a very important question: how can boutique European studios create large games, compete and succeed in a quickly changing and ever-growing games industry?
GDC Europe will take place August 17-19 at the Cologne Congress East Center in Cologne, Germany in conjunction with gamescom. To learn more about the keynotes and speaker line-up, registration and exhibits visit www.gdceurope.com.
New Alan Wake Trailer To Debut In Finland
By Billy Berghammer
While Microsoft Games Studios and Remedy have remained completely silent about Alan Wake, Finnish videogames magazine Pelaaja is reporting that after two years of silence Remedy will finally release a brand new Alan Wake trailer. However, you’ll have to be in Remedy’s homeland - Finland - to be the first to see it. Originally announced for both the PC and Xbox 360, the new trailer will be shown in front of the new Max Payne movie in Finland. Rather fitting since Max Payne is also a Remedy creation.
The trailer will be shown during a special screening of the movie on October 15th, and then during the opening weekend of the movie, which premieres on October 17th. The trailer will only be shown during the opening weekend in Finland, and then removed. However, Remedy plans to release the trailer online shortly after it premiers in theaters. Let’s hope some nice fella’ decided to sneak a video camera in to share Mr. Wake with all of us not able to scoot over to Finland!
Our sources have also informed us more details about this mysterious title will be revealed soon….
