A Good Old Games Revolution

Good Old Games, the DRM-free online source for classic PC games, announced that it has added several of Revolution Software’s adventure games from the popular Broken Sword series. The first games to be available on the site include Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror and Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon. Also available from GOG and Revolution Software are the classic point-and-click adventure games Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress.

All of these games retail for $5.99 each and are fully compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista. Find out more at gog.com. It’s as good a way to ring in the new year as any, my friends. Now if only they would bring Gothic 2 into the fold..

runefactory2 Rune Factory 2: The Adventure Continues  actionNatsume’s Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon for the DS has shipped to retail this week. The Rune Factory series combines the gameplay of Harvest Moon with the fantasy trappings of an action-RPG.

Rune Factory 2 is set several years after the first game after the evil Sechs Empire has been defeated, and the Kingdom of Norad is once again at peace. Things won’t stay that way for long, however, as strange disturbances in the earth warn that a new evil is stirring. It’s up to player to uncover this new threat to the land and bring peace to the kingdom once more. Over the course of the story, players will build and develop a farm, befriend townspeople, raise monsters, take on quests, and find a wife.

In a first for the Rune Factory series, the story of Rune Factory 2 is multigenerational. Players begin the game as Kyle, a strange man who comes to Alvarna Village. Eventually, players will take on the role of Kyle’s child, opening up a whole new adventure.

Rune Factory 2 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

Disney’s Bolt Attacks Retail

bolt Disneys Bolt Attacks Retail actionDisney’s Bolt, the superdog, and his companion Penny are ready to spring into action on Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PS2, Nintendo DS and PC. Disney Interactive Studios’ game based on the animated film of the same game is available at retail stores throughout the United States in time for the film’s opening on Friday, November 21.

Developed by Avalanche Software, the Bolt video game follows a unique storyline, which takes place within the fictional high-action television series featured in the film. In the game, players must take on the personalities of Bolt and Penny to utilize their unique talents and superpowers to save the world and Penny’s father from the evil Calico. Players will take on Calico’s henchmen; avoid capture at the Mayan Temple; and hack enemy computer systems as the duo’s adventures take them throughout expansive areas in five global locations: Italy, Russia, Belize, China and Oceania. Separately, the film focuses on Bolt’s inadvertent shipment to New York City and his journey back to Hollywood with the help of a jaded cat named Mittens and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino, whose favorite word is “awesome.”

On a related note, Bolt: The Mobile Game will also be available in November 2008 on most major wireless carriers. Bolt: The Mobile game has a suggested retail price of $6.99 (prices may vary by carrier).

Evil Under the Sun in Stores For Wii

The Adventure Company and JoWooD Productions have released Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun for the Wii in North America. The third game in the series based on Agatha Christie’s novels and the second release on the Wii, promises environments and characters created from Christie’s book, unique puzzles and a deep storyline.

Evil Under The Sun focuses on detective Hercule Poirot, turning up at just the right time to begin an investigation into the murder of a famous actress during what should have been the start of a relaxing holiday. Go figure. Taking on the role of Hercule Poirot, players scour a tropical island for clues and delve deeper into the mysterious relationships between over 20 characters to search out the killer.

CSI: NY – The Game Ships

Ubisoft has shipped CSI: NY – The Game for the PC this week. The game based on the hit TV crime drama carries an ESRB rating of “T” for Teen and retails for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $29.99. CSI: NY – The Game is an adventure game that allows you to play as characters from the show using a brand-new graphic novel art style, interactive mini-games and interrogations, and original cases crafted by writers from the “CSI: NY” television series.

The game also features the voices and likenesses of Golden Globe winner Gary Sinise, Melina Kanakaredes and the rest of the show’s primary cast. In concurrence with the video game’s release, the show will air its milestone 100th episode on Wednesday, November 19th. “CSI: NY” averages 11.8 million total viewers each week on CBS. Ubisoft’s CSI video game franchise has sold more than 3.5 million units worldwide since the first CSI title was released in 2003.

King’s Bounty: The Legend in Stores

Developed by Katauri Interactive, published by 1C and distributed by Atari, King’s Bounty: The Legend is a tactical turn-based RPG set in a fairytale fantasy world, populated with knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses. The player controls one character, leading him through the gameworld, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests.

The game progression falls into two separate parts – Adventure and Combat. In adventure mode, the player controls the character in real-time, taking him through the adventure map seeking treasure, and completing challenges. In combat mode, the player takes on the role as warchief, leading their troops through battle in a chess-like format.

Here Comes Time Hollow

time Here Comes Time Hollow  adventureKonami’s time bending, hand-held adventure has been released today in the United states for Nintendo’s favorite portable system. In Time Hollow, players explore the past and present simultaneously, solving mysteries of the present as they learn about events of the past. In the game you play Ethan Kairos, who is on a quest to unravel the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of his family.

As players begin their journey, they come across a Hollow Pen, an object that has the amazing ability to open portals to the past. Using the stylus pen and touch screen for the DS, players utilize the Hollow Pen to explore the past and present simultaneously in order to help Ethan find his parents.
