altair Altair Sneaks Into Prince of Persia actionHey. Someone got their Assassin’s Creed in my Prince of Persia. And yet, much like peanut butter and chocolate, this looks like it may be two great tastes that taste great together.

In a bit of a surprise announcement, Ubisoft clued gamers in on a new perk for linking their Ubisoft.com user accounts with either their Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Network accounts. By doing so, players who pick up Prince of Persia will gain access to a special character skin of Altair from Assassin’s Creed.

no_fear-640x GTA IV DLC Dated actionAccording to a USA Today report, that exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV DLC you’ve been aching for will be hitting Xbox Live Marketplace on Feb. 17, 2009. The DLC will be called “The Lost and the Damned” and will not feature protagonist Niko Belic. Niko is taking a holiday, apparently, to make room for a fresh face alluded to on the radio. Instead the DLC will focus on Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City gang The Lost. The DLc promises to show Liberty City from a whole new angle.

“Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background,” says Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser. “I can’t go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City.”

Sounds absolutely fabulous. Niko Belic will be making some sort of cameo in the DLC according to the report, for whatever that’s worth.

Frontier Developments is teaming up with Square Enix to publish its WiiWare title LostWinds in Japan and Asia. LostWinds was one of the better WiiWare launch titles, topping the WiiWare charts in both the US and Europe in May 2008. The game also garnered critical acclaim for its unique gameplay and art style.

No word on when Square Enix will release the game in those regions, but the partnership marks an interesting trend for Frontier, a company better known for its work on such games as Thrillville, Dog’s Life, and the RollerCoaster Tycoon series.

1a Breaking in the New Xbox Experience industryIt’s official. After months of buildup, hype, pomp, and circumstance, Xbox owners are finally getting their hands on the “New Xbox Experience”. At 5:00a EST, Microsoft opened the flood gates and 360 owners were greeted to a mandatory system update when they started up their consoles. So, how smooth was the launch? We’ll see over the next few days and weeks, but in the meantime, I can at least share my own “New Xbox Experience”.

Well, like many of the gaming masses, this morning was my first solo run at the NXE. Sure, a number of people managed to get in some early access, courtesy of a consumer survey from Microsoft a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn’t one ‘em. So at 5am on the nose, I booted up my 360 and, sure enough, the update was ready for me. The download process was much faster than I expected, as apparently MS had already done a lot of the heavy lifting with earlier updates. From start to finish, the whole thing only took about two minutes.

It’s nice to know that, just as in real life, love born in an online world can sour just as easily. According to CNN, a UK couple who got married in the MMO game Second Life and in real life, are now set to get a divorce after the husband allegedly got caught in a virtual affair in the game.

Amy Taylor, 28, said she had caught her husband, David Pollard, 40, having sex with another woman (a “virtual prostitute” to boot) in the game. The couple, who first met in an Internet chatroom back in 2003, are now separated and awaiting finalization of the divorce process.
