ESRB launches new iPhone App
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has developed a free iPhone app that gives parents on-the-spot access to its new rating summaries. This handy dandy little app is perfect for parents with iPhones that need help and information about games and game purchases.
The ESRB also announced this morning that it has developed a new series of TV and radio Public Service Announcement ads that will begin airing nationwide in the coming days. Major video game retailers will also air these commercials in their stores throughout the coming year. Rating summaries, which are provided by ESRB on its web site, but are not displayed on game boxes (like ESRB ratings and content descriptors are), give parents a more detailed, straight-forward explanation of the content and context that factored into a particular game’s rating.
The new rating search app is available for free via the iTunes App Store and offers information on over 18,000 titles. Rating summaries are available for all games rated since July 1, 2008. For more information on the ESRB, visit www.esrb.org.
