Big Huge Games Layoffs Coming?

Big Huge Games has been issued a WARN Act notice, according to word on the street. This basically means that that the company will be laying off at least 50 employees in the next sixty days or sooner. THQ was not available for comment at the time of writing.

Big huge Games is a wholly owned THQ studio that was acquired by the publisher earlier this year. The company was working on a big role-playing game project headed up by Ken Rolston, who is best known for his work on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Where this leaves that project is unknown.

If this is true, a public announcement about the WARN Act notice is inevitable.

The WARN ACT notice requires an employer with more than 100 employees to provide written notice of a layoff involving more than 50 employees. The act provides training, assistance and worker placement programs. The advance
notice allows workers and their families transition time to seek alternative jobs or enter skills training programs.

We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
