Halo 3: One Billion Matches and Counting
Over the weekend Bungie’s Halo 3 hit a major milestone. Bungie reports that on Saturday at 6:36pm PST, in a three minute and nineteen second game of Infection on Foundry, four players participated in Halo 3’s one billionth match on Xbox Live. It’s an important milestone, says Bungie, because its predecessor, Halo 2 has not hit the one billionth match mark.
Sifting through the recorded data, Bungie also spit out some interesting statistics on Halo 3: The total matchmaking playtime 2,023,153,340,764 seconds, or 64,109 years of playtime. That’s a pretty amazing number, but i’d imagine if someone had been keeping track of the length of time spent playing Doom, Quake, Half Life or even Battlefield 1942, we’d see a similar numbers. But that’s not a knock against Halo 3 - it has an incredibly dedicated player base that will continue to play the game until the next game comes out.
