The Rundown: Jan. 14, 2009

Today’s Rundown offers lots of entertaining news bits, but I wanted to show off my City of Heroes Tanker, Back Hair Brawler. This big, hairy oaf uses willpower and super strength to fight crime when he’s not tending to his shiny gingery coat. His only weaknesses? Duct tape and razors. Now onto today’s news…
Smackdown PS3 Patch
THQ released a Create-a-Superstar patch for the PS3 version of WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009. Available via PlayStation Network, the update will let players give their created Superstars increased attributes following a one-time completion of the game’s Career Mode, as well as allow players to accept or decline Superstar abilities once they are unlocked. In addition, players may enter the code “MAXCAS” to provide created Superstars with increased attributes in lieu of repeating Career Mode play. A Create-a-Superstar patch for the Xbox 360 will be released in early 2009.
WAR in Russia
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been fully localized and will be released in Russia on February 5. The Russian version of WAR will feature a fully localized gameplay experience as well as regionally-based servers and customer support. Learn more at www.war-russia.ru.
Godfather II Facebook Game
EA has launched The Godfather II Crime Rings game on Facebook. This game gives you a chance to experience the challenge of gaining and retaining power in a world of organized crime. Crime Rings brings the “Don’s View” experience of The Godfather II to Facebook and allows you to ally with friends and attack enemies on the social networking site. Castle Crashers DLC and The Maw
The Castle Crashers: King Pack and The Maw land on Xbox LIVE Arcade this week. The Castle Crashers: King Pack features two new characters - the Open Faced Grey Knight and the leader of the fearless knights, The King, a new seal animal orb named Pelter, and three new weapons, including the Gold Sword. Last but not least cast a new spell called the King’s Heal which heals not only yourself but your party as well. In The Maw players must discover the mysteries of the Maw’s abilities as they try to pilot Frank around the dangerous planet and ultimately help him escape the ruthless bounty hunters. Castle Crasher: King Pack will be available for 160 Microsoft Points per pack, while The Maw will cost 800 MS Points.
Fusion Fall Launches
Cartoon Network New Media and development partner, Grigon Entertainment, announced today the launch of its rowser-based massively multiplayer online game (MMOG), Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall. FusionFall is an MMOG that takes all of the best Cartoon Network characters, re-imagines them in an anime-inspired style and sets them in dynamic new environments. Players create their own in-game avatars and battle alongside their favorite cartoon characters to save the world from an epic alien invasion. Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer’s Edition Dated
Guinness World Records announced today the release date of its definitive collection of video game records, facts and trivia — Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer’s Edition. Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer’s Edition, the second installment of the must-have “Gamer’s Bible”, will hit shelves February 4th for $21.95.
New Clothes for XBLA Avatars
Xbox Live Arcade avatarlovers will be happy to know that new accessories are now available. For boy avatars there’s the striped Polo shirt, striped jacket with Polo, checked jacket with Polo, open neck Cardigan, embroidered pants and suspenders with hi pants (Dress Up). For girl avatars there’s the hacking jacket, Chinos with belt, rainy day boots, scarlet pumps and a lavender Polo shirt. All of this is free too.
