Sony Responds to PSP-3000 Screen Issues
Remember back when the PSP first launched, and the internet was on fire with people dealing with the now infamous dead pixel issues? Well, it’s déjà vu all over again for Sony, thanks to problems with the highly touted brighter, more colorful LCD screen included on the PSP’s latest model, the PSP-3000. While the new screen is definitely brighter and more colorful, but apparently that new screen has issues of its own, in the form of scan lines and jagged pixels sharp enough to cut yourself on (Note: No, you can NOT actually cut yourself on jagged pixels … it’s a metaphor). Making matters worse, the problems are with the hardware on the LCD, supposedly making a software update to address the issue impossible.
When asked about the issue, Sony responded by stating,”[The] PSP-3000 has a new LCD device with vastly improved picture quality, achieving a more natural and vivid picture than older models. By improving LCD response time to reduce ghosting, the horizontal-line phenomenon becomes more visible.”
Translation for all you PSP-3000 owners? “It’s so sharp, you can see the flaws that much better.”
Currently, Sony has no plans to replace the LCD screen in future versions of the PSP-3000.
