Vitals: 29, married
Education: B.A. in English from the University of Florida.
Publications: Until recently, my games writing has appeared almost exclusively in the pages of
Paste, my employer for the past five years. I currently serve as the Atlanta-based magazine's Deputy Editor and Games Editor; however I'll be moving to Dublin, Ireland, in early 2009. Real first-person adventures await!
Platforms played: After spending the first few years of elementary school holed up in my parents' walk-in closet playing games off 5 1/4-inch floppies on my dad's Commodore 128, I eventually gravitated to consoles with the NES and never looked back. I spend most of my gaming hours these days on the Xbox 360. Also, I'm an Apple geek, which doesn't exactly feed the PC gaming tendency.
Genres played: Adventure, RPGs, retro, rhythm and platformers. I'm a relatively new convert to first-person shooters (
BioShock finally won me over).
Multiplayer or single-player: Single-player and co-op. I try to avoid competitive multiplayer, as it feels like a virtual schoolyard where bullies refine their most grating tendencies.
My favorite Top 10 games ever played:
1)
Fallout 3
2)
BioShock
3)
Portal
4)
Final Fantasy XII
5)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
6)
King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder!
7)
Tetris
8)
Shadow of the Colossus
9)
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
10)
Mario Golf
What makes me tick: Listening to Irish music and playing it on the uilleann pipes, guitar and whistle. Boneless buffalo anything!
