What's Hot: Same Worms combat we've loved for years; New weapons; Fun controls
What's Not: A careening camera; No online play

Unfortunately for
Space Oddity, the Worms franchise hasn't lasted this long because of its strong single-player campaign, but because people can't get enough of using tiny, spineless soldiers to beat the holy bejeezus out of each other. Defeating the computer-controlled opponents of
Oddity's Story Mode simply can't compare to the sheer joy of beating another human in a versus match, but the game's lack of online play means you're restricted to trouncing the people you're willing to let into your living room. What makes this all the more disappointing is that online play was part of
Space Oddity's original design, but for whatever reason it didn't make it to the final version.
If
Worms: A Space Oddity had online play, it would be a must-have for the Wii, but without it, it's an acquired taste, especially at the price of $50. The single-player campaign is strong, the new weapons and maps are fun, and the worms are hilariously adorable, but Worms is, was, and ever shall be about its versus mode. Despite the rest of
Space Oddity's quality, the ability to take on would-be worm generals from all over the world is sorely missed.
