Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds (PS3)

Its proven gameplay and online multiplayer are compelling, but the lack of courses and a $60 price tag sting a little.

Ho-Hum Presentation

Those searching for groundbreaking visuals won't find it here. The graphics are clean and vivid, and the courses are good-looking, but the overall look is slightly underwhelming for a PS3 game. Furthermore, the menus feel cheap and the cut scene transitions are choppy when skipping. Picking up the slack, however, are the delightful live-motion clips featured at the end of each round. They add to the relaxed feel of the game, as does the soothing soundtrack.

With only six courses to play (12 if you count mirrored ones), Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds is lacking in content. It's a blast to play, that's for sure, but it offers few extras to justify the full asking price. Buy it if you're a rabid fan, rent it for its proven gameplay and online competitiveness, but skip it if you're considering alternatives or waiting for a price drop.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
