THQ's attempt to make a Grand Theft Auto III clone wasn't the abomination it seemed destined to be. Despite being buggier than Florida in August, people apparently bought enough copies of the original to merit this unnecessary sequel. The story reportedly is darker this time around, and there are some new rides to test-drive, including boats and helicopters. You can expect more of the same drive-bys, liquor-store hold-ups and homie-centric shootouts that made the first installment a success.

The complete lack of graphical scalability is horrifying. I can play Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2, Dead Space, TF2, and HAWX all on the highest settings. GTAIV puts along at mostly high and some medium settings. I've got nearly everything turned off and turned down for Saints Row 2. I lowered the resolution and it still doesn't run acceptably. Oh, there's also no support for SLI; you can force it through the nVidia control panel, but it won't do much good. I gained a few frames.
