Great Moments in Madden Glitches

An old, wise man, who may or may not have been Chinese and may or may not have lived on a mountaintop, once said: "When you've got a nine-month development cycle, something will always go wrong. Always."

Make no mistake: EA Tiburon, based in Florida, has the most thankless job in the business. Year in and year out, it is burdened with the task of building a better mousetrap, even though a perfectly fine mousetrap was invented 20 years ago. (That's how long Madden games have been in existence.)

After two decades of needlessly tinkering with perfection, it seems the team can only succeed each year in one way: by including annual screw-ups that inevitably get celebrated on YouTube.

Football fans everywhere: Let the cringing begin! [Disclaimer: The quality of some of these videos is extremely poor. Also: There is a bit of blue language, coupled with some numbskulls laughing. Viewer discretion is advised.]

What in God's name did you have for lunch glitch
The year: Madden 07
What you are about to see: Is disturbing. Especially if you are former Chicago Bear quarterback Rex Grossman. Something emerges from his posterior in a very dramatic fashion.

Jeffrey Dahmer was here glitch
The year: Madden 08
What you are about to see: Is even more disturbing than the previous clip. Will virtual body parts be scattered around on the 50-yard line? Yes, virtual body parts will be scattered around on the 50-yard line.

So this is what the inside of a man's head looks like glitch
The year: Madden 08
What you are about to see: Is the inside of a player's head. Also, look closely, and you might even get a glimpse of the inside of his torso.

9:05 head from Portland is on time glitch
The year: Madden 07
What you are about to see: Is a player's head doing something that a player's head should never really be able to do: leaving said player's body, and soaring through the air with the greatest of ease.

Amazing arm-passing-through-body glitch
The year: Madden 08
What you are about to see: Is disturbing. And it's made even more disturbing by the eerie noises in the background. Where the hell was this filmed? In a medieval dungeon?

Well he does actually throw a lot like the real Eli Manning glitch
The year: Madden 08
What you are about to see: Isn't really all that funny (though one of the commenters pronounces it "one of the funniest things" he's ever seen). But what is funny is the genuine laughter you can hear from the two people who are playing the game. They seem to really be relishing this moment.

I never seen no sh*t like this glitch
The year: Madden 09
What you are about to see: Is a very irate gamer who clearly spent $60 on a game that isn't doing any of the things he wants the game to do. EA: -1 customer.

Come on Madden fix your sh*t glitch
The year: Madden 09
What you are about to see: Is a human body passing through another human body, a feat that only the great Gob Bluth could typically pull off. Minus 5,000,000 points for using Pat Benatar, knucklehead.

He like flies glitch
The year: Madden 08
What you are about to see: Is quarterback Phillip Rivers making a tackle, after one of his passes is intercepted, by literally flying through the air for a very short distance. Bonus points for the child coughing in the background. Stop playing Madden and, worse still, filming yourself playing Madden, and get the kid some Benadryl.
