Gift you're hoping to give/get: Winter Coat

Game that it goes with: Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip

Why they'll taste great together: When you live somewhere cold, the only way to survive the freezing temperatures is to embrace all that comes with them. Winter sports let you enjoy the outdoors and get the blood pumping, so good outerwear's a great gift for the skiers and snowboarders in your family. For those times when snow fans can't get to fresh powder, Shaun White Snowboarding provides a pretty good alternative. The Olympic gold medalist's title boasts huge mountains in multiple locales, and the Wii version uses the Balance Board to mimic the leans and tucks you use on the slopes. Hey, it's cheaper than a lift ticket and airfare.

Gift you're hoping to give/get: Superhero Action Figures

Game that it goes with: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe or LEGO Batman: The Videogame

Why they'll taste great together: These days, simply reading the exploits of costumed crime fighters in print form doesn't seem like enough. Action figures are great because a well-crafted 3-D realization of a favorite superhero in plastic makes all the cool aspects of the character come to life more vividly. It's true for videogames, too. Controlling the Dynamic Duo as they battle bad guys and piece together cool vehicles and gadgets in LEGO Batman feels like you're having your own adventure. Older fans can get a more visceral thrill out of MK vs. DC's intense brawls, but try not to pout like a grade-schooler if you're the victim of a Fatality.

Gift you're hoping to give/get: Spandex Running Shorts

Game that it goes with: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009

Why they'll taste great together: If you're confident enough to get sweaty while leaving little to the imagination, then creating a virtual pro wrestler version of yourself to take online should be no problem. Aside from more contraband weapons, updated talent rosters and sharp, updated graphics, SVR 2009 offers a Create-A-Finisher feature so that you can end ring brawls in your own inimitable style. You aren't afraid to show people what you're working with, and the WWE game will let you show 'em how it feels to be on the receiving end of all that awesome.

LEGO Batman was the first game I didn't have to help my son play. Then again he thinks Prey the Stars is the bee's knees..

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
