I'm happy to see a new Ding! when they come. RL is important and more will come when they come. I have dailies and random skipped quests and raiding and dungeons and run-on sentences to keep me busy in the meantime!
4/21/2009 4:13:06 PM
@Verbalite: jsut be happy he makes comics for you.
4/21/2009 4:11:38 PM
@Dieselpowered: hello again =]
4/3/2009 3:37:05 PM
@Atariboi: thank you so much for personally addressing me and all of my concerns in this post. I feel completely validated as a person now and your arguments against me were extremely well thought-out and well supported!
4/1/2009 11:35:52 AM
@66rekrul: @66rekrulI would just like to say that DING! is awesome. Keep up the great work!!!I would also like to add that I don't think the web artist needs to explain himself to anyone. Last time I checked web comics were free. And in this economic situation we're all going through ... FREE is a great thing to have!I check daily to see if there's a new comic posted and if it's there.. GREAT! If not it's no sweat off my balls.The one thing I would suggest to make the page better for the readers would just be to make the forums on a separate link. ATARIBOI OUT!
3/30/2009 8:08:52 PM
@Nakota: Again well stated...so you are saying that when you promise to deliver it is perfectly okay to say "screw my readers, I don't feel like letting them know the update will be delayed so hang them all." after building up a loyal fanbase? You DO realize that you and scott are not the only webcomic artists out there and that the ones who still HAVE a loyal fanbase may not update on time every time, but they DO let their fans know when they expect the update, or even post a short explanation! Your comment holds as much water as a paper bag with a hole so please try to enter the real world before you speak again.
3/30/2009 6:44:02 PM
<---Is actually Nakota (forgot my new login)@ PergamOnce again I can't speak for Scott. I'm not him. The guy updates his comic PvPonline nearly daily and has done so for years a feat which I have yet to achieve. But I'd be surprised if anyone here has never said they were going to do something and then failed to follow through. In my case the promise is not empty when I make it. Unforeseen circumstances usually make it that way later on. The logic is that if I publicly commit myself to a thing I will have no choice but to follow through and sometimes (just sometimes) it actually turns out that way. However, far more often it does not and I've got egg on my face. Maybe you are beginning to see the dilemma here? Say nothing and you are negligent. Explain the derailment and you are making excuses. Promise more updates and you are hung in effigy should you fail to for whatever reason. Not until you update again can you offer anything of value to those who are upset with you and when you do, it had better, damn well, be there idea of a good update.I'm not saying poor old Scott. I'm just saying there's no need to imagine ill feeling on his part for his readers because of the way he's handling things. There's always a method to these things.
3/30/2009 4:48:34 PM
Yes, but what is the most frustrating of all these experiences is not the fact that the site hasn't been updated. It's not the lack of new material. The most frustrating thing is hearing the artist say again and again "I promise I'm going to pay more attention to this" and then fail to follow through.I went back and counted at least five posts by Scott (mostly through PvP) where he talks about Ding and how he wants it to succeed and how it's going to be "better and more consistent and on time... and this time I promise!"I'm tired of hearing it. If the strip doesn't get updated, okay. But don't tell me you're going to do something and then fail to follow through. Say what you'll do. Do what you'll say. Is being accountable for what you say you're going to do that difficult? No. It's not. If you can only update the strip every five weeks, then say that!...and I'll see you in five weeks. :)
3/30/2009 4:24:15 PM
@Arras On occassions when I've failed to update I've tried to let my readers know its coming or explain after the fact but that's not been true 100% of the time. It's rarely that simple. There is a lot of shame and insecurity involved. A simple note saying I'm not updating now and won't be any time soon can actually be counter productive to getting things back on schedule. It sounds crazy but in my mind, when I get behind, the next update is always around the corner. Even when I look back and realize that over a month or 2 months or 6 months has gone by while I try to round that corner. I've also noticed that when I do explain my absence and when I don't has little or no effect on the loads of frustrated emails I get. Those who don't see my explainations as excuses and blast me for it find something else to blast me for. The plain truth is the only thing that's going to satisfy people after a certain point is producing a comic and so sometimes I try to just ignore my inbox until I can focus on that. Besides what could he really say? What reason could he give for lack of updates when there are guys out there who do 2 and 3 comics, update daily and never miss their deadline? I think when you finally do hear from Scott it will be with another update or to say he's giving up the ghost and the comic is over. Anything else ends up feeling like stringing your readers along.
3/30/2009 3:52:07 PM
@Nakota: Tell me this, when you have failed to meet your deadlines...did you by chance inform your readers? Perhaps ahead of time if you could or soon after? 'Been feeling really sick the last couple of days and just haven't had the energy to do much of anything' or something to that effect? The silence from Scott has been deafening. People here, myself included, will imagine all sorts of outcomes when given no other options. Maybe Scott's seeing how many comments he can build up, maybe he's trying to prove to Crispy gamer he's worth more money and is intentionally holding back to make the outcry louder. We don't know because he hasn't told us anything. What have we lost you ask? Time for one thing. Patience for another. Every time I come here and see the same (barely funny) 4 panels, I've pissed away my time. My time is actually important to me and it's important that when I make a choice to spend it on something, I like to see a return on that investment. If I'm going to take my time to come here, I'd like to see an update. A note from Scott. But right now, all we've got is rather lame attempts by Failcraft to continue trolling the comments.
3/30/2009 3:35:07 PM
@Nakota: /applause
3/30/2009 3:05:43 PM
I've only posted here once before to show my support for Scott so I'm not really a part of the community here but please allow me to speak on behalf of the delinquent webcomic artist. I do a strip calle Good Ship Chronicles and if any of you have heard of it then you know immediately that I am well versed in the subject of update delays. I just want to say that those of you with anger or frustration toward Scott are misdirecting it. I cannot speak for Scott himself but in my experience it has never been about how I feel about my readers when I fail to update. If i had it in me I'd update every day. If it were completely up to me I'd do it twice a day. But sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. By the time we realize it there are consequence attatched to not choking ourselves to death. How easy it would be to default on his contract, take the hit and wash his hands of the whole mess. But when in Scott's position I've found that the fact is I still want to make something good that people can enjoy. I can never admit to myself that that can't happen and the truth is as long as I don't give up and keep trying (in any capacity) there's still a chance it will. There's still a chance that I'll be able to update like I did before and folks will be happy. I've always held out for that because I care and when I've built up a cache of angry emails and comments I see that as a debt that I will one day pay down. I'm sure Scott cares and if you hang in there he will make it right. I've seen what happens when a creator doesn't care about his work or the people who enjoy it and this is not that situation. I also realize that he's promised more updates but truthfully why wouldn't he? It was a promise made to himself more than anything and as much as he's let you down he's let himself down, no doubt. I'm confident that for this reason he *will* deliver eventually. In the mean time what have you really lost? Anger is understandable but we should temper it with patience.
3/30/2009 12:25:06 PM
I think what's going on is that Crispy Gamer likes having a relatively famous webcomic creator on their site and are reluctant to ask him to do anything.I think the time when they should have acted was way back september-october time when he started getting lax with the updating. I think the only options they have left are to kick him out or let him walk all over them like they're doing now.Oh yeah, also - you play world of warcraft, you're wasting your life. Now failcraft's gone I feel obliged to say it.
3/30/2009 11:36:31 AM
@Grifter: There's a problem with your statement about it being HIS comic. When Scott or any other artist put his work online for others to view, enjoy and comment on, it stopped being his. It belongs to everyone now. We, as readers, may not have direct input into what goes into the comics, but you better believe we have a right to hold Scott accountable to his own claims. If he expects our support, he (and you) need to recognize that.If Scott says - I'm going to make more of an effort to post here, update regularly and be a part of this community, then we (as readers/fans/trolls) have a reasonable expectation that we'll see him around here more. The comics will come more regularly. That hasn't happened. Scott needs to learn how to under-promise and over-deliver. Right now, he's got it backwards. Can't really even say he's under-delivering, he's not even delivering. I don't buy that he's got a lot on his plate. Many, many other web comics artists do far more and participate in the same number (and sometimes more) of conventions than he does and still manage to update when they say they will. Without fail.
3/30/2009 11:12:22 AM
Just... shut the hell up and let him update his comic whenever he wants to. If you don't like how and when he updates HIS comic go out and get your own.
3/30/2009 7:18:15 AM
I think at this point the best we could ever hope for is an update once a month. If we are lucky. But even then, i doubt we are that lucky
3/29/2009 1:55:10 AM
So ehm, can I has comic update yet? I mean... the previous comic can't be more than, what, a 20 minute piece? Surely if Beamer (Scott, Scotty, beam me up Scotty, Beamer, yeah, haha, I know) skips his daily masturbation session twice there'd be enough time to do another update? Besides, would cut both ways, frustrated artists deliver edgier art. Just my 2 cents on an early sunday morning.
3/28/2009 1:51:03 PM
@xscotx: Very good point, there may be many other things to worry about in his life...and far be it from any of us to expect him to take a simple 2 seconds out of his schedule and say "Hey, I'm sorry but I can't do what I said I could do, things are hectic" Okay, maybe three seconds. you can defend him, but he stated that we would be getting updates, creating an expectation that was not met. it has nothing to do with the update schedule, it has everything to do with information. a heads up or a schedule Scott can meet such as once a month would be perfect, a "Scott has real life so we must wait like slaves for an entire lifetime just in case he updates because we are too weak-willed to call him on leaving us hanging" is not even a human response...it is the response of a door mat.
3/27/2009 1:58:43 PM
Ha ha! Now that's funny! ^_^
3/27/2009 1:15:02 PM
@Arras: I don't think of myself as a troll. More of an American Hero!
3/27/2009 9:42:24 AM
@Verbalite: Maybe if you were a better troll, the comments would be more interesting. I do like that this comic has something like 10 or 20 times the comments as other comics do.
3/26/2009 6:57:42 PM
@Arras: The comments have dried up. No one seems to want to play with us anymore.
3/26/2009 4:01:24 PM
@mmclennan: There's a comic here? I come for comments :P
3/26/2009 3:26:30 PM
wait, you guys are still going on about this. you know there is a page that tell you what hosted comics have been updated right? Like instead of going to this page direct just go towww.crispygamers.com/comics/you will notice this comic at the bottom of the pile with no updates. That is how you know it is Ding!.
3/26/2009 1:30:38 PM
@Relithgore: What?
3/25/2009 11:47:39 PM
My vote is a level 16-17ish Night Elf Rogue with Defias Mask and his still gimp grey level 7 dagger attempting backstab Kissybear after just getting out of a Deadmines run.Still waiting for that death coil.Best question I can come up with is, "Why did someone let a lowbie into Northrend and why hasn't he been eaten by a random level 1 critter yet?"The level 1 critter part eating a 16-17ish rogue comes from the fact that if your a level 1 hiding out around 67+ mobs you have got to be hiding something to survive.
3/25/2009 6:58:16 PM
@Newb: Your post is either the most pathetic attempt at humor I've ever seen, or else evidence that you are a deceptive and incredibly immature person. Given that it is now "tomorrow" from the perspective of your post means that, if the latter, you are also a blatant liar. And that's the last straw. I won't be coming back here. This comic needs to be written off as a loss, and I refuse to support it in any way anymore.
3/25/2009 6:05:18 PM
Folks, you have to realize that in order to update Ding! Mr. Kurtz would have to do more than just draw and post the comic. He would have to undertake a tremendously wasteful and frustrating time-sink at the expense of his friends, family, hobbies and his freedom in general. He would have to play World of Warcraft.
3/25/2009 5:46:49 AM
I've been a fan of Ding! since I first found the link on the pvp page. I like it far better than pvp, in fact. I'm disappointed to hear that Scott has made promises about this strip before. This should be a business decision: if it's bringing in money, do it, and if it's not, don't. Meaning, either live up to the business obligation, or terminate it. Here's what Ryan Sohmer, writer of TWO successful webcomics, has written about people who claim to produce "professional" webcomics:http://www.leasticoulddo.com/comic/20080509 (he challenges a webcomic 'professional' to prove he hasn't been late for one comic update in the last six months.)As he says in the next day's strip, "Funny, I don't remember Bill Watterson ever missing a strip because he was drunk."I'm not saying Scott is incapacitated, lol. And I'm not saying he's unprofessional - he's produced pvp for a lot of years! (and supplied guest comics when he was unavailable.) I'm assuming he just has a lot of projects on his hands. But if you "commit" to something, managing your time is part of your job.Please come back to Ding! - we miss you.
3/24/2009 9:32:39 PM
@Lurker66: LIES!
3/24/2009 8:49:21 PM
I knew it! Newb IS Scott!
3/24/2009 7:24:10 PM
Scott gets way more hits on this site from people looking for the strip than he would if he actually updated on a regular schedule. Why do twice the work for half the hits when you are receiving the hits anyway. He will update tomorrow, though. It was a long weekend at the convention and I'm worn out.
3/24/2009 7:01:10 PM
you guys know he writes pvp right?
3/24/2009 1:41:21 PM
@Jack_Taco: You're more annoying than any troll.
3/24/2009 10:19:04 AM
Cheez Whiz guys! Shut the Aitch-Eee-Double-Hockeysticks up and have some patience!! "Yeah, yeah, learn patience how long will that take..." Go read some XKCD or something.... go play a game, read a book, do your homework, play some more WoW, watch some TV, or at least take a hike!
3/24/2009 7:27:07 AM
wall of text crits me for 56784gief new strip!
3/23/2009 11:27:51 PM
@airddragon: Wow, talk about blatant miss on my part xD; It does clear it up, thank ye much :]
3/23/2009 9:28:54 PM
Hmm. It seems that everyone is getting cranky again. I guess it is time for a comic update.
3/23/2009 7:52:51 PM
@Warcrack4kids: I think it was around the.....Amaranthine: "If you lot are going to bother twisting your knickers enough to bash on each other (And Scott, who is still a step ahead of you... you know, what with that actual "has talent" thing.), at least put some bloody thought into it."So hopefully that clears up what part it was.@Amaranthine: To sum it up in short: No. If it was something he did as a hobby, sure lack of updates is his prerogative. He pushes himself as a professional to US. If he wants to be considered professional then he better gosh darned act it. A professional web comic artist should mean what it says, PROFESSIONAL Web Comic Artist, not 'will say I'll update and not update' professional web comic artist. In my world a professional that missed that many deadlines would be either laid off or outright fired, regardless of talent.So Scott, this one is for you: Update if your going to update or start being realistic with when you are going to update. At least give us supporting consumers the honest truth. Because I've bought your stuff, word of mouth promoted PvP because it was good and generally given you a fair knock at making it break even. That time you were doing this to PvP... you almost lost me. I hung in hopping the slump would end... and I was well rewarded for my waiting (PvP has been as awesome as ever btw, so here is a sneaked in compliment). But don't misinterpret that patience as something that refills. You've used up quite a bit of it already. Don't sink this ship without at least being honest and telling us get off first.Anyways, the balls in your corner now Scott. I'm rooting for you, but at a certain point even the faithful fans stop going to empty stadiums.
3/23/2009 6:57:56 PM
@Verbalite: o.o ....When did Merri say commenters are 'entirely without talent'? Was it the fail part? 'Cause 'fanboys leaving' was part of that equations, and usually fanboys don't fanboy on crappy stuff (with a few exceptions, of course) ^^
3/23/2009 5:21:31 PM
@Amaranthine: I'm not Scott-bashing his updating practices. When the strip is updated, it's amazing work. Funny... poignant. It's good material! What I am Scott-bashing is when he says "I'm sorry, I know I've been neglecting this strip. I promise it will be updated regularly," and then fails to follow through.Look at Scott's comments on this very strip:"So expect Ding to be on time and for me to be in here more often."Is it wrong to expect him to hold to that? If it can't be updated, it can't be updated. I have a problem with being told that its a priority, and hearing that it will be updated regularly only to be disappointed, once again.Do what you say you're going to do. Be accountable for what you say. If the strip is only going to be updated once a month, then say that. Don't say this is a priority and then under-deliver.
3/23/2009 5:09:53 PM
@Lurker66: You're pretty irritating. I guess that's what comes of being short.
3/23/2009 5:07:47 PM
Ah such wonderful discord. More please! ^_^
3/23/2009 4:34:13 PM
@Amaranthine: It's not the lack of comic people are complaining about. It's the LIES! Scott says that he is going to do another comic, or focus more on Ding, but he doesn't. Yes, he may have a life, but that doesn't mean he gets to throw away all of his commitments.Also, I don't know why you assume that every commenter is entirely without talent. Just because we don't sign up to websites, miss countless deadlines and then get praised for it doesn't mean that none of us can draw or write or make music or anything else.I would advise that you go back to your hole and sit in it while I swagger around on the internet making myself feel good to make up for my pathetic, lonely life.
3/23/2009 3:50:55 PM
If you lot are going to bother twisting your knickers enough to bash on each other (And Scott, who is still a step ahead of you... you know, what with that actual "has talent" thing.), at least put some bloody thought into it.Your half-assed sentences and lackluster insults are tired and fail. The generalizations everyone has already made, the compensation-trolling... it was all very entertaining thirty posts back, but now I think it's time to step it up or get out. I know it makes you feel very important to have all of that negative attention, which in itself is rather sad, but at least make it fun for the rest of us who put up with it.Though the fact that you continuously insult yourselves while attempting to insult other people is just bloody brilliant. It's the only reason I bother reading the forum.As for the Scott-Bashing... go make your own comic if you've such a problem with his updating habits. When you fail and your fanboys start leaving you exasperating comments, mayhap you'll remove your heads from your asses and realize the man has a life and isn't always going to cater to your addiction when you want him to.Scott, you're brilliant, I love the comic whether it's updated or not, the past ones still make me smile plenty. Thank you.<3 Merri.
3/23/2009 1:25:33 PM
@evohollywood: Seriously? You really think he's just not going to come back?If anyone should be banned, it should be Scott. He updates once(?) a month and when he does they're not as good as pvp. You (I'm assuming here you work for crispy gamer) should be having serious talks about Ding and not worrying about a comments troll who only annoys people who are asking for it.
Bawk!Bawk!
3/23/2009 9:22:34 AM
@ch2112: Not for long he isn't...Evan
3/23/2009 8:27:50 AM
@world_of_failcraft: You're still here?
3/23/2009 2:28:26 AM
@Verbalite: let our powers combine!
3/23/2009 12:34:30 AM
Scott, I love your work and I support you in as many ways as I can. I have the PvP books. I have a Skull plush. I have the lithograph. I have the Scratch figurine. (yay!) I know that the only way to encourage you in creating your craft is to support it. So I do so willingly. I respect that a lot of it is a labor of love and, for example, when you took PvP from 7 days to 5, I understood. It made sense.I have to say though, I'm really getting tired of hearing you say "I'm going to pay more attention to Ding!... and this time I mean it!" You've been saying that for months, but you've never been able to commit to it the way you need to in order for it to get off the ground and have some real traction.I sincerely hope you consider what you want for Ding! If it's too much of a commitment, then that's cool... everyone will get over it. It's difficult as a fan to hear you continue to say "really! I care about this strip!" and then neglect it for so long. Seriously. Either do it right, or throw in the towel.My two cents.
3/22/2009 10:07:42 PM
@Verbalite: idk
3/22/2009 3:18:35 PM
@youfod: Are we starting a club?
3/22/2009 2:47:41 PM
@Verbalite: lol 3 trolls on this site now!!!
3/22/2009 10:55:55 AM
My own take is: don't bother banning the trolls. They will just make a new log in.Just allow us to ignore the failures.
3/22/2009 9:28:23 AM
@Dieselpowered: looks like you made a new friend lmao hes even better then me x3 god i love raising hell with the help of others
3/22/2009 9:21:36 AM
@Dieselpowered: Oh no! Mr man-with-a-way-too-macho-name-clearly-hiding-something is going to come and shoot me!
3/22/2009 6:40:33 AM
I love the arguing! The comments on this page and the last have been far more entertaining than the comic itself! So please everyone, argue so more. It feeds me. ^_^
3/22/2009 3:14:50 AM
Phew. These posts are getting way to long. I appreciate everyone's opinions, but i mainly was reading these comments because they were entertaining. Now they are starting to get long enough to reek of work :P So i guess I will stop reading them for a while. Take care everyone, and have fun posting!
3/22/2009 1:30:36 AM
What is interesting to me here is that suddenly more are posting about the World of Warcraft "PLAYERS" and not the game itself.Each point generally has something about the game's addiction aspects but then changes into a point about how it's the gamers that are the problem.My view on this is that world_of_failcraft isn't particularly attacking the game but the players of the game and that that is the exact reason for so many issues.It has nothing to do with him attacking the game but he's purposely taunting the players to provoke a reaction just to fuel his ability to say "See it's the players doing this.".Now I would rather talk about the fact that I enjoy this comic for it's ability to bring out the nature of a player and not just about the game itself but it seems that it has become a war of the "forums" creating pointless arguments that take away from the comic and turn it into something else... like say oh I don't know, "The Jerry Springer Show." that isn't really about the issues at hand but how much of a fuss can be created around it.Really though I doubt "banning" (He can just create a new name) world_of_failcraft will do anything permanent and others are just here for the same reason as him.This website is new but forum trolls are not. The fact that there is an area to post beneath these comics means that someone is going to try and subvert the use for their own goals.So how about this, we enjoy ourselves, read the comic, read the post, ignore what irritates us, and just talk about the comic.If you ignore what irritates you instead of continually attacking it then it generally goes away on it's own or at the very least becomes tolerable to ignorable without your constant attention to it.But oh well it seems I must be off to don my hat of "fanboyism" and enjoy some games and read said webcomics as posted above.Hopefully this webcomic and the website that host it shall continue on for a very long time.
3/21/2009 10:12:43 PM
@Verbalite: no it did not, i have just not been back to the website since the last time i posted because i have been too busy at work to care, i put in my comments and my reason and left it alone, you on the other hand should be shot
3/21/2009 5:54:33 PM
@Dieselpowered: Why don't you like failcraft? When he called you a basement dweller did it ring home too true?@world_of_failcraft: I voted no. I can't be bothered and someone needs to take on the world of warcraft lovers.
3/20/2009 9:12:13 PM
Don't ban failcraft! I come here just to read his comments, they have become more entertaining to me than the comic itself.
3/20/2009 3:13:47 PM
@world_of_failcraft: I told her she chould not take it. But she did not listen.
3/20/2009 2:46:55 PM
@world_of_failcraft: Awww ... I wanted you to stay!Scott, what exactly IS the update schedule for Ding! now? Bi-Monthly? Weekly? Bi-Weekly? Just curious.
3/20/2009 11:07:22 AM
@evohollywood: I voted "no" because, seriously, how hard is it to ignore, or skip past his post if you don't want to read them.
3/20/2009 2:34:23 AM
aww everyone be hating
3/20/2009 1:40:47 AM
@evohollywood: i too have Voted in favor of banning him, as well as an explanation to why i choose to vote against him, :) i bow to you Evo and your wisdom to create this open forum and give us the readers a chance to decide his fate, and explain our actions, there are several forums that i read/post on and usually admin/Mods would just outright Ban someone, My hat is off to the Mod's and crew of the Ding Forum, very well done :)
3/19/2009 10:50:41 PM
@evohollywood: I voted yes, because if you're going to be a troll you have to be smart and / or funny and he / she / it is none of the above.
3/19/2009 10:43:16 PM
Hey Everybody,It's time to pass judgment on world_of_failcraft:http://www.crispygamer.com/features/2009-03-19/hey-failcraft-anatomy-of-a-troll.aspxThanks,Evan

@youfod: for a week?
3/19/2009 8:50:47 PM
At the risk of ticking off a bunch of fanbois, the strip is better when it doesn't really matter all that much what game is involved.This could have happened in just about any game that allows PvP combat. The fact that it's Kissybear (a known griefer, based on previous strips) adds to the humor, but only slightly; the real joke is that someone who thought he was All That got taken down a peg.On the other hand, I've never played WoW, so the anecdote strips were pretty insipid as far as I was concerned. Particularly the one about the soul shards ... from reading the comments, I guess the "humor" was that some guy who had never used a particular game item had no idea how they worked and may have been confused by the existence of some other item with a similar name. My, how very droll.I'm not saying it has to be totally generic, but it's possible to reference the WoW universe without crippling the joke for people who aren't on intimate terms with it (for instance: the strip where Kissybear is using reverse psychology worked for me because I could tell that they were bad suggestions, though my son found it a lot funnier because he's actually seen people doing each of those things).

@world_of_failcraft: evohollywood moms house
3/19/2009 2:04:09 PM
@carrionpigeons: Yeah fuck that. Kissybear's character made this particular comic strip. Though true story worked out to be less dry might be ok for another comic strip it still wouldn't compare to kissybear and the rest of the gang. Although on the original day of veiwing this comic this was the first of 2 comics that i saw where a ne rogue was stabbing a ud lock in the back. I loled when i saw the other one on the incompletes site.
3/19/2009 12:45:19 PM
I think it's pretty funny how people are falling over themselves to praise Kurtz and the return of Kissybear like it's the second coming or something. Seriously, folks, relax. Count to 10. This strip, sure it's humorous. A funny gag, but "ZOMG soooooooooooo funny lololololl I loved it" it is not. If you truly believe that it is, you're certainly entitled to your opinion and I'm not trying to tell you that you're wrong. Only suggesting that maybe you should consider getting out more, reading some other webcomics and removing your face from Kurtz' ass. Yes, I'm still glad to see the return of kissybear and I am looking forward to his...unique views on WoW. He reminds me of someone in my guild, so I kind of enjoy the similarities. However. Kurtz, if you manage to update more than...let's be generous and say once a month, I will be impressed. If your next update contains more than one panel filled in and more than 3 sentences, I might consider myself a fan again. You have an uphill battle ahead of you to regain the fans you've lost. Assuming you actually care.
3/19/2009 11:50:59 AM
FINALLY!!!!^_^
3/19/2009 10:37:11 AM
Carrion, I don't think I've contradicted myself. I am a fan of Kurtz. While many didn't enjoy his narrative strips I did. I prefer his original stories, though, and am glad he's returned to this format. I understand why some didn't appreciate the narrative format as it was more of a "you had to be there" funny. I just think this format has much more possibilities. As far as being a cheerleader for Kurtz I make no apologies for that. He's received enough criticism (some just and some unjust) to warrant an undying fan who may overlook some minor flaws. Consider me the Fox News of this board. I present the other side. Those who appreciate the work Kurtz puts into this strips despite some unjust and vicious criticism.
3/19/2009 2:07:37 AM
1) This comic was genuinely funny on its own merit. While Kissybear is cool and I'm glad to see him back, the "true story" format could have been laid out pretty much just like this and it would have been fine. There weren't that many people before who were complaining about the lack of Kissybear compared to the number of people who hated the concept of a comic strip that was narrated the whole way through. 2) I'm surprised and impressed to see Scott's effort here, both because it takes humility to take critical feedback (especially for someone who is on record as having said that critics have nothing to contribute to art), and because Ding! looked so much like a lost cause. Whether or not he was forced into updating, he gets kudos from me. 3) Signing up on the boards for a reason other than to flame anyone who complains was cool too. I'll choose not to elaborate more on this point. 4) Newb, you are a total sycophant. Are you a robot that was designed to spit out press releases or something? I mean, you do realize that the things you said in your comments on this page directly contradict the comments you made on the past few pages, right? Seriously, have an original thought once in a while. You make the average citizen of Oceania look like a soul-searching rebel.
3/18/2009 7:22:32 PM
@youfod: where the hell where you
3/18/2009 4:41:07 PM
@Malarauko I agree 100%. I am even more of a fan knowing Mr. Kurtz listens to his fans. He could have continued his strip based on actual stories but knew what the fans wanted the old style Ding back. He was busy with PVPAwesomeology (which I encourage every fan buy) but now he's got time to update Ding on his weekly schedule. Looking forward to next week's strip.
3/18/2009 1:16:28 PM
Kissybear! \o/It's great to see yowwwwwwwaaaaaaaaasssssaaaaaaaaa1211aaaaaaaasssdddd
3/18/2009 10:26:49 AM
This has brought me back. I took the advice of "If you don't like it don't read it" but this comic has restored ym faith somewhat. It shows he's listening and now even if it takes forever i'll be happy with Ding!
3/18/2009 8:10:00 AM
@evohollywood: Thank you SOOO much. Looking forward to it. ;-)
3/18/2009 12:18:36 AM
@JohnKeefer: what post?
3/18/2009 12:13:48 AM
@Dieselpowered: lol failcraft is not he only troll here =[ and and thank you for making a account you just feed the trolls
3/17/2009 11:56:48 PM
@world_of_failcraft: Quick we must turn this into a cluster fuck to the 8th power!!
3/17/2009 11:46:00 PM
@world_of_failcraft: right here
3/17/2009 11:32:56 PM
@TouringBubble: i will, thanks <^> ^-^ <^>
3/17/2009 8:18:28 PM
You're doing a great job Scott. I spend my time at PvPonline.com So anything you pot here is supplemental to me. Keep it up.
3/17/2009 7:22:17 PM
So for my two cents...I like this format better, Kissybear always was a great character and they are all lots of fun.But then I wasn't hateful over the other format either. It isn't my comic and I enjoyed the other format as well, if not as much as this one.I guess I just like FREE comics about things I love.
3/17/2009 9:34:10 AM
@world_of_failcraft: I'm not serious. I simply replied to your incorrect assumption.I do find it amusing that you actually replied to me though ... I really didn't expect it. Continue your trolling, Sir.
3/17/2009 6:15:37 AM
@world_of_failcraft: Ask the joker. He might know.
3/17/2009 4:02:34 AM
Welcome back Kissybear! :)
3/16/2009 11:18:15 PM
@TouringBubble: i was joking numbnutswhy so serious?
3/16/2009 1:23:45 PM
@world_of_failcraft: I never threatened to remove it. I simply did it after the slow updates and poor content. My post simply reflects my appreciation for the change back to the original style.
3/16/2009 12:04:54 PM
@TouringBubble: yea threatening to take him off did wonders
3/16/2009 11:55:14 AM
Wheeeee! Long time PVP reader and I have to say I love the Exploits of Kissybear and the stories that get sent in make sweet filler stuffs so yay Ding!
3/16/2009 11:26:01 AM
Nice move Scott. I'm adding Ding! back to my bookmarks.
3/16/2009 7:01:49 AM
Please, don't feed the troll.
3/16/2009 1:14:01 AM
True. I am sorry if i made an over generalization, but i still believe it to be true about the more vocal of the complainers of people who were supporting the old comic
3/16/2009 12:35:00 AM
@Xenoth: Well I had no problem with either change tbh. :] Thus I'm not complaining lol
3/15/2009 7:37:27 PM
You know, there were tons of comments saying that we were all bastards for saying that we wanted this comic back. But i have to notice that not one person is complaining about the comic being changed back. This leads me to believe that all those people screaming at us did not really have an opinion of their own, but were either toadying up to Mr. Kurtz or were doing nothing but trying to start fights.
3/15/2009 5:11:07 PM
@world_of_failcraft: perhaps you need to lrn2read the lurker i speak of was myself, as i stated "i have been a long time lurker"as for the troll im talking about you
3/15/2009 4:16:37 PM
@World_of_FailcaftDarn tootin'! ;P
3/15/2009 3:20:18 PM
Awesome to see Kissybear back!!! thanks Scott!

3/15/2009 8:11:57 AM
great to see the original line is back. much <3
3/15/2009 2:11:50 AM
I note that this is Warlock Kissybear, not DK Kissybear. That Rogue is not gonna like it when he comes back with his two Dopplegangers...
3/14/2009 9:51:44 PM
Nice to see Kissybear back! :) Thumbs up!
3/14/2009 4:49:47 PM
Hooray! I'm so happy that Ding! is back! Thank you Scott for making this a priority!
3/14/2009 2:44:48 PM
@Dieselpowered: and in my continued failed use of the spell check button i myself look retarded >.>
3/14/2009 2:43:32 PM
@world_of_failcraft: Does anyone else feel like getting a group together and go troll hunting? i have been a long time lurker and Failcrafts continued spouting and proving to all of his mental retardation has forced me to create a log in so i could flame his ignorance and obvious self hatred, i mean i feel sorry for a guy that look to everyone else, and that he will never be half as good at gaming and real life to be much help to society :D i would offer fail a chance to just crawl back under his tock before Judgement day finds him =^.^=
3/14/2009 2:40:52 PM
@ScottKurtz: welcome back :) im looking forward to reading the new adventures of KB :P
3/14/2009 12:28:53 PM
@World of FailcraftActually I look exactly like the dude in my avatar so quit being such a dick and stop ruining the fun for everyone else >.>
3/14/2009 11:45:53 AM
I just reread this comic and it's just as funny the second time around.
3/14/2009 3:25:30 AM
Heh I don't even care about all the fighting. I am just glad to see the comic back. It has even made me come back from the sabbatical that i was taking from warcraft
3/13/2009 11:14:01 PM
@world_of_failcraft: What's sad is that you even perceived that as a death threat, lol. Did you forget that you agreed to answer some questions for us to post? The judgment is from others. silly troll.
3/13/2009 10:54:05 PM
@evohollywood: that means what? your making death threats over a game on the interwebs? lmao thats a little sad
3/13/2009 7:23:39 PM
Scott's contrition is welcome. Thanks for that, Scott. It's one thing to be human, it's quite another to admit responsibility for your actions.If you really get stuck for ideas, Scott, perhaps you should extend your playing to WAR. Fargo was mining it for ideas in some of his articles - the potential for humour in that grim setting is surprisingly high, even if you don't mention orcs at all. Just a thought, and now I'll get slammed by 50 million WoW fanbois :P
3/13/2009 6:28:56 PM
@everybody:My name is Evan Moore, I'm the Product/Community Manager here at Crispy Gamer. Over the last couple months I've received a bunch of feedback asking us to add some more comics to the site, so we have in the Crispy Comic Network (http://www.crispygamer.com/comics/network). I just wanted to drop a line and see if anybody has had a chance to check them out and if you have any thoughts on other comics we should pursue for the site. If you have any comments you want to send without having to publicly broadcast them, feel free to email me at evan.moore@crispygamer.com.@ScottKurtz: Hey Scott, thanks for joining the conversation! I'm really psyched to see the new Ding storylines and we totally appreciate your involvement.world_of_failcraft:Your judgement day is coming, are you ready?Thanks,Evan
3/13/2009 6:10:07 PM
The artwork was created yesterday. The template for the panels was created in 2008 and I forgot to update the copyright at the bottom. Thanks for noticing guys. Heh.
3/13/2009 5:49:06 PM

3/13/2009 12:59:35 PM
@I_pwn_mongbats: Easy killer... maybe the date is wrong. Benefit of the doubt. :-) Thanks Mr, Kurtz, good to see you back!
3/13/2009 12:45:35 PM
Ehm, is it just me who noticed the "(c)2008" at the bottom of the comic? Because while everyone is standing in line to give Kurtz a sloppy BJ, I am guessing this was just some artwork laying around that finally got posted just for the sake of keeping winers occupied. Could be wrong though.
3/13/2009 8:14:11 AM
haha, LOVE it! So glad to see KissyBear back!!!!!
3/13/2009 7:06:49 AM
omfgroflmafao! I am glad that I didn't give up on checking it daily! I almost gave up hope, and stopped checking! well, thank you Mr. Kurtz for a great comic!

3/13/2009 4:11:08 AM

3/13/2009 4:09:23 AM

3/13/2009 1:38:10 AM
Finally, I'm glad there back to normal stories now, hated when there was no kissybear
3/13/2009 12:34:46 AM
Holy crap awesome.That is all.
3/12/2009 9:43:45 PM
And I would like to recommend to everyone to sign up for his Twitter account so you can keep up with Mr. Kurtz. Link can be found at PvP's website.
3/12/2009 9:42:02 PM
Getting back to basics is where this comic needed to go. The user stories just were not that interesting. Rather than being constricted to a user adventure this move lets Mr. Kurtz create his own adventures that we can enjoy. This community has overwhelmingly pined for Mr. Kurtz to go back to basics and he has listened. Shows that he really respects and values our opinions and we matter to him. Thank you Mr. Kurtz for listening and for caring about our opinions. I don't know many cartoonists that would show us such respect. And I love the comic.
3/12/2009 8:23:37 PM
Thank goodness! I liked the original storyline just fine. The submitted stories just didn't do anything for me, and the comic previous to this one was pretty incomprehensible.
3/12/2009 8:11:27 PM
I, the newb, have held the torch for the great Kurtz and now he has returned in all his greatness. All you haters shall be silenced and bow down at his feet as Ding has returned and I reiterate "Kurtz is back BIG TIME!!!!!"
3/12/2009 8:03:48 PM
How about having a few comics in their COH identities? Been a while since we've seen their Superhero personae (Or maybe you could have skull make a WOW character that he tries to make look like his COH character, despite the fact that it means, say, wearing Cloth armor as a warrior?)
3/12/2009 7:23:27 PM
Jesus! Holy Crap! Various profanity filled exclamations! A new comic and with the old cast no less! And an actual post from the one who made it happen! And don't worry about your best. I for one am just happy that you have listened to our opinions, and have given us some reassurance that you were going to continue this comic. If you had any personal issues that you needed to deal with first, I'm sure we all would have understood (except for the trolls but they complain no matter what) as long as you told us. It is just that when you disappeared, we didn't know what to think. If you ever have to leave again, please let us know and we will wait patiently for your return. Honestly, this strip, as others have said, is worth the wait.
3/12/2009 7:14:47 PM
Whoot, awesome strip!
3/12/2009 6:50:46 PM
Kissybear just logged on /b/ realm.. "Missed me? *stab*!"
3/12/2009 6:46:15 PM
The prophecies were true!!!!
3/12/2009 6:23:12 PM
Hey guys.It's important to me that I become a part of this Crispy Gamer community and with you Ding readers. So expect Ding to be on time and for me to be in here more often.Thanks for your patience with all this. I'm doing my best (and sometimes my best isn't good enough, I know).
3/12/2009 5:50:59 PM
Finally! And tgfkb!
3/12/2009 5:30:59 PM
yay! new Ding! and Kissybear bitches!so what we waited a month? big whoop. So what if Scott has ignored us this whole time? I can't wait for April's....who am I kidding, May's next adventure! :D
3/12/2009 5:30:48 PM
It's here! It's finally here! >:DI don't know if it was dumb luck or what but I just happened to find this thing and not sure how long ago it was posted. O.o Bye bye horde of old comments and hello storyline again.Honestly the submit storylines weren't bad they were just "You had to be there" moments that aren't quite as good without you being there to see them. Anyways back to WoW from this. ^.^
