i don't care who says what i had a good laugh at this, even if on my mage i do things a little more maliciously like asking people to follow me off Thunderbluff and instead of them taking the elevator they jump off the edge with me.. Gods i love being a mage!

This weeks Ding is funnier than last weeks. Great job. More people need to send Scott their humorous stories. I have one. I'm playing WoW with my guild then one of my guild memebers yells over teamspeak "Mom, I need my hot pocket!" He sounded like Cartman from South Park. We all started LOLing A LOT! It was soooo funny. My mom said she thought I was having a heart attack because I couldn't catch my breath but I wasn't and she was relieved. Scott I give you permission to use this story.

I know Scott said that he wanted to do the same thing with Ding! as Brad was doing with Phables, and it seems a good idea, but I love Scott's humor in the previous Ding! comics. I mean this "Free Falling" skit was... alright, maybe it will grow on me as will the next updates I hope to see soon, who knows.

Really? A religious reference? Defending the creation of the internet? *Sighs.* Woe unto the boards it begins. Simply for the amusement of it. First to Twp3pf2: Touche with the big words... To mmclennan: The internet is for porn! Now let's not make this mistake again. Oh and something about communications was it's original plan but it works perfectly for porn! Now with that said...Dance my puppets! Dance and make me smile.

Ummmmm, what? You actually took that statement as something I consider to be a fact and truly believe? It was a joke man, it is like saying "God created cows so man can have steak." Do we use cows for steaks? Yes, we do. Is that there only purpose in life? Indeed it is not.

I was just saying is seems like a silly thing to comment on how people are complaining about something. I mean if someone has a negative opinion and you don't then you make your point not complain about how they are complaining, that is horrible logic.

    @mmclennan:
"Things will never, ever be good enough for everyone. No matter what you do someone will find something wrong with it. Tis why the internet was born."

This is what YOU see when you look into the internet: a place to vent your spleen.

It's pretty egocentric (and erroneous) to then claim that this was the purpose of its creation. You are only commenting on yourself.

one of my biggest gripes with Scott is that does a lousy job of setting and managing expectations. He may do a good job of keeping his storylines on track, but everything else is totally scattered.
Ding! started off as a side project, just something he threw in to break up his regular comics, it didn't even have a name yet. Expectations: None.
Then it started on Crispy and Scott said he'd update it twice a week, expectation is that we'd see 2 Dings! a week. When you don't see those updates, but keep checking (and driving up the hit count and click-throughs on ads) you realize you're lining someone's pockets and they're doing nothing.
Same deal when Scott said he was bringing Southworth on board to do the art so he could focus on the stories...that lasted, what, 2 comics?
Scott continues to set the bar for himself high which is an admirable thing to do, we all do it; however, if you consistently fail to achieve those expectations you need to look at your commitments and asses what you can actually do.
Somehow, Scott has taken on more than he can handle and is letting things like Ding suffer.
Web comic artists don't get paid a normal salary like most jobs, they get their money though ads, merchandise that we, their viewers..readers? click on and purchase because we enjoy the comic and want to support it.
It's reasonable to expect something from this arrangement. We support him, he should hold up his end of the bargain. He's not and that's why people are upset

Paying for something isn't what makes it possible to complain about it. The fact that every person who comes to this site is being exploited in one way or another, is what makes it possible to complain about it.

People don't come here to complain, and they don't come here to give Scott as many hits as possible for his advertising revenue. They don't come here for any of the things that actually end up happening, and that's a shame.

Scott benefits from the hits on this site whether or not he updates the comic, and that's exploitation.

Scott doesn't have a responsibility to us for anything, but he should realize that the cost of not even trying to keep promises is that no one who's reasonably intelligent will respect him, or cut him any slack.

    Okay, a few quick things.
    1. Yeah, it is hard to draw a comic and get something awesome ready once a week let alone do it 5 days in a row. I do not think anyone would argue with that. the point is though that this is Scott's job, that kind of takes the whole "it is tough to do" excuse away. If you can't do your job, then guess what, you get fired. Pretty simple.

    2. I can also see going through stories that WoW players provided to be a difficult and disturbing task, but no one volunteered him to do that. So if that is not working then go back to what did.

    3. Things will never, ever be good enough for everyone. No matter what you do someone will find something wrong with it. Tis why the internet was born.

Its hard drawing a full color comic, and I'm sure it takes a lot of time to bust one of these out, he has to find a story that isn't too long otherwise the point would get lost, this is only the first of many I'm sure.

I may not be funny but Scott could make it funny. He could turn water into wine with my story. Read PvP. I laughed so hard at Friday's strip where Skull farted. I'm no writer and I'm not whats wrong with the world. I am a Kurtzaholic. I'm drunk on Scott's talent. Ding is the second best comic on the web right behind PvP (and no I am not Scott even though people are accusing me of it).

This was the winning entry. Scott should post his name and email address so we can email him and congratulate him on a funny story. And to the poster a couple of entries down I'm with you. I'll never stop reading PvP or Ding. Despite the critics they are the best of the best on the internet and other creators are jealous of Scott's success. Scott is numero uno in my book and PvP should be in the papers.

Second, yeah this is pretty a pretty lame story. Don;t get me wrong I will never stop reading Ding! or PVP, mostly cause I got nothing better to do, but this was not funny (nor cute). Even if this was the ONLY story Scott got, still it is called artistic license. If this is the path that DING! has started to follow then I am saddened.

Scott, you should consider making Ding your full time strip and going part time with PvP. This is fantastic. Great job and keep up the good work. The art is great, too. Another win in my opinion.

just random weaving and running around trees while on mounts was part of the fun of auto-follow. I did it in FFXI when we would have an entire party on chocobos auto-following me... and I do it in WoW with our mounts (or me in my flight form).

I don't think that it was a WoW joke. It was a situation that someone actually encountered. When my friends used to put me on auto-follow I used to try and run them into crevices or bushes that would get them stuck. Being a priest I use that spell all the time and think that this is funny.
