0:50 The high jump is similar to long jump, but with a ramp at the end to send everything vertical. It's incredibly satisfying watching a guy fly elegantly nearly 100 yards into the air, only to land on some cardboard boxes. Relaxing, in a way!

0:56 The Demolition Derby feel a lot like the PlayStation game Destruction Derby, only with a much improved graphics and damage model. It's a lot of fun with eight cars ramming it out, but a little slower-paced and less interesting when there's only two or three left.

1:00 A muddy race on a figure-eight track finishes off the hour. Seems way too basic for the "bonus" cup, and I still have trouble keeping my speed upon the turns. Sort of a bleh way to end a generally exciting hour.

Would I play this game for more than an hour? Yes.

Why? The driving model is totally decent, but it's the driver-launching mini-games that put it over the top.

This column is based on a retail copy of the game purchased by the author.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
