Why I Don't Think There Is A "Playstation" Phone

A very convincing photo of a Sony Ericson gaming phone has surfaced this week with site after site calling it confirmation of a "Playstation Phone."

I have doubts, though.

The Playstation brand has had several leaks over the past couple of years, namely the PS3 Slim and PSP Go, but even on photos of leaked prototypes there have been some form of Playstation logo. This Sony phone does not; instead it has an "S" logo.

Ace Combat: Joint Assault

I’ve been playing Ace Combat: Joint Assault off and on over the past week and I must say, I’m relatively impressed with the way the game feels on a portable system. This is the first time I’ve played an Ace Combat game, and though I know it’s been tailor-made for home consoles, Joint Assault’s feel on the PSP so far has not been problematic whatsoever. You start the game as a fighter pilot working as a contractor for a private military security firm.

<p> With lengthy battles and no checkpoints, I&#39;ve always felt the PS3-exclusive Valkyria Chronicles would be better suited for a handheld system. The ability to put the game to sleep without having to stick a battle out or quit in the middle (the cause of many tensions when on a schedule) is a necessary feature for a game that puts the player in battles that often take a minimum of one hour to complete -- not including retries. To my elation, the sequel will be released for the PSP, set for August 31st, and the demo was just put up on the PSN store. The developers claim it has the same gameplay as the first in the series with improvements, despite being put on a less powerful system, and from what the demo exhibits they&#39;re right.</p>

However, after hearing that a new Metal Gear game was being released specifically for my oft-neglected handheld, the PSP was no longer a system to be ignored. Returning at the helm of Peace Walker is original series creator Hideo Kojima, who had previously planned to retire from Metal Gear duties following Guns of the Patriots in 2008, only to renege on his initial plan and commission Kojima Productions to helm another Metal Gear game (not that we&rsquo;re complaining at all).</p>

Half-Minute Hero Sequel Announced

According to a Famitsu report, last year's briefest, 8-bitiest PSP game, Half-Minute Hero, will be getting a sequel. The new iteration of the game is said to continue to place heavy emphasis on fast adventuring and plowing quickly through battle, though time will freeze while traversing the overworld map.
