Impressions of Mass Effect 2: The Arrival DLC

I love DLC that extend’s a game’s story, so when The Arrival came out earlier this week as a bridge between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 I had to play it.
The 2-ish-hour long scenario starts with a cutscene of Admiral Hackett contacting you via video chat (it’s unclear whether Skype, FaceTime, or Cisco wins the market in the alternate future) pressing Commander Shepherd to go to the bottom-right corner of the galaxy and save a personal friend/informant who he hardly speaks to because she uncovered solid proof of a Reaper invasion that the Council can’t ignore and is being held prisoner by the batarians of that system. You later find out why, putting Shepherd in a tough spot. Unfortunately, the decision he’ll make is not player controlled because its outcome is part of the scenario’s plot, but you get to make a mini-decision here and there that effects your paragon/renegade rating.
The mission is not very long - you’ll beat it in a night, get your 1-3 new achievements/trophies, and move on - and it’s almost all action. Hackett asked Shepherd to go in alone, so you’ll be solo-ing this one. That means no squad and being armed only with the abilities you grew your Shepherd to use. It adds an extra challenge, though it’s still an easy fight.
I played this after completing the game, but I wonder if you can access this content early on, and if Shepherd gets different responses throughout the game because of its events. If you've tried this let us know in the comment section.
