So I saw the Prince of Persia movie...

in

… and I loved it.

I came into the movie expecting absolutely nothing. Almost all movies based of video games have been horrible. Some of them were so bad that they were great (I'm looking at you, Mortal Kombat). But most of them have just been terrible (I'm looking at you, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li).

But really, the Prince of Persia movie was entertaining. I wasn't blown away or anything but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The action scenes were well choreographed; when the Prince ran along rooftops running away from soldiers I was subtly reminded of the Sands of Time video game. Jake Gyllenhaal ran like the Prince ran, did acrobatics like the Prince did, and spoke in the same witty demeanor that the Prince did. He accurately emulated the video game character.

I would as far as saying that the Prince of Persia movie is a grown-up (and non-musical) Aladdin. It was a standard action movie, complete with special effects, a likeable hero and very predictable plot twists. As soon as I saw a bald Ben Kingsley with angular eyebrows, I just knew he was evil. He's Jaffar without the fancy hat.

What I find hilarious however, is that there is a new Prince of Persia game based off the movie. They can't even call the game after the full title of the movie, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, because there is already a game with that same exact name that released in 2003. So the name of the game based off the movie is Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Does that mean if the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie is popular and they make a sequel, they'll call the movie sequel Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands? What would they call the game based of that movie? Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands of Time? My head hurts.

Actually, I can live with that. It's not nearly as bad as Street Fighter: The Movie... the game.

Yeah, it's as bad as it looks.
