A lack of new releases, coupled with the strong brand recognition of Nintendo's popular arcade racing series in Japan, has made
Mario Kart Wii the top selling game in the region. This week's retail sales chart remained relatively unchanged, with
Mario Kart Wii holding on strong to the top spot, followed by the ever popular
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G,
NE Bokura wa Kaseki Holder,
Wii Fit and
Musou Orochi: Maou Sairin.
Mario Kart Wii sold 202,000 units during the week, while
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, sold a respectable 124,000 units. Both of these franchises are proving to be powerhouses in Japan, though it will be interesting to see if
Mario Kart Wii can surpass
