When you have an online gaming service as huge as
Steam, odds are you
can collect the sort of data that would give a rather accurate (hardware) profile
of your average (slightly hardcore) player. Any other than a hardware profile,
and, well, you could just list all physiological changes that come with puberty
:)
So here it is. Valve's latest
hardware
survey shows that these would be the parts that make up the most popular
rig for Steam gamers:
# Single Core Intel CPU @ 2.3 Ghz to 2.69 Ghz
# NVIDIA GeForce 8800
# 2GB RAM and above
# Windows XP
# 250GB Total HDD Space
# 16" 4:3 Monitor @ 60Hz
# Realtek AC97 Audio
# Microphone enabled
# DVD Drive
# 2MB DSL or Cable
Seems standard enough.
